H.E. Xu Jianguo, Ambassador of China to Ireland, briefed Asia Matters Corporate Members and Key Invited Stakeholders on Moving China Ireland Relations to the Next Level.
Ireland has been late to engage with Asia but from a modest base, bilateral trade with China is now growing rapidly.
Two way high level visits have taken place , developing a trusted peer relationship with both countries committed to further developing the China Ireland strategic partnership. Yet there is a need to further improve mutual understanding between the Irish and Chinese business communities and to better communicate to realise further business opportunities from our mutually complimentary economies.
Asia Matters has stressed the need for an updated Asia Strategy for Ireland - perhaps the first step for this would be for the Irish Government to engage with key stakeholders to create a new ‘China Strategy’.
